Frequently Asked Questions

What does a doula do?

A doula provides continuous emotional, physical and informational support before, during and after birth. Doulas don’t perform medical tasks — we work alongside your healthcare providers to help you feel informed, comfortable and heard.

What is a community-based doula?

A community-based doula comes from, and works within, the community they serve. Alongside birth support, community-based doulas often help families connect with local resources and navigate systems like Medicaid.

When should I contact you?

Any time! Many families reach out in the first or second trimester so there’s time to build a relationship and plan together — but it’s never too late to ask about support.

Do you replace my doctor or midwife?

No. Your doctor or midwife provides your medical care. We complement that care with education, comfort, advocacy and continuous support.

Can my partner or family be involved?

Absolutely. Whole-family care is one of our core values — we help partners and loved ones feel prepared to support you too.

How do I pay for doula care?

Options may include Ohio Medicaid, HSA/FSA funds or private pay — by card, or in monthly payments with Klarna. Coverage varies, so contact us and we’ll talk through what’s available for you.

Have a question we didn’t answer?
